Longhorn Beetle (Leptura maculata, family Cerambycidae) length 12-24 mm
Wing-cases usually yellow with black markings (as illustrated), but colouration rather variable
and sometimes almost completely black. Common throughout Britain, on flowers in woods, hedgerows, etc. |

Rosemary Beetle (Chrysolina americana, family Chrysomelidae) length 6-8 mm
First recorded in Britain at Wisley, Surrey in 1994, and now seems to be established in several
parts of SE England - feeds on the leaves of rosemary (Rosmarinus), lavendar (Lavandula) and Thyme
